How much should a tutor website cost?
By AbneosEd · Published 21 October 2026 · Practical buying guide
Define what you need before comparing website quotes. A practical guide to scope, ownership, ongoing costs and questions to ask.
Start with scope, rather than a headline price
A tutor website quote is useful only when it explains what is included. A one-page introduction with an email link is a different project from a subject-led website with content writing, enquiry forms and booking integrations. AbneosEd offers the packages below, with a written scope and proposal before commitment.
Decide what a parent must understand before contacting you: subjects, age groups, exam qualifications where relevant, lesson format, your approach and the next step. Those needs should determine the pages and functionality, rather than a long feature list.
Separate the initial build from ongoing costs
Ask for the initial design and build cost, then a separate breakdown of domain renewal, hosting, maintenance, content changes and any third-party subscriptions. Establish whether these are optional or essential to keep the site working.
A lower initial quote may exclude writing, image preparation or migration. That does not make it a bad offer, but you need to know which tasks you will be responsible for and what additional work will cost.
Compare the same deliverables
Give each supplier the same brief. Ask how many pages are included, who writes and approves the copy, whether mobile and keyboard checks are covered, and how the enquiry route will be tested. Agree who will configure any existing booking tool.
For example, a solo online maths tutor might need a homepage, a detailed tuition page, an introduction and an enquiry route. A tuition team may need separate subject and tutor pages. Neither should pay for an account portal without a clear use for it.
Ask about ownership and leaving
Find out who owns the domain, where the source and content live, and how you can obtain a copy. Ask what happens if you change suppliers. Clarify access to the hosting account, enquiry inbox and any paid tools.
Your comparison should end with a written scope, responsibilities, recurring costs and acceptance checks. Choose the proposal you can understand and maintain, rather than assuming the most expensive or cheapest option is the best fit.
Compare the full cost, not just the build
Cost
What to check

Page allowance, profiles, supplied copy, image preparation and revision rounds.
Care and hosting
£29/month with the Website Care scope below, or agreed alternative hosting. Confirm the arrangement before commitment.

Your next decision
Write down the specific change you need, the parts of your current process worth keeping and the questions a supplier must answer. This gives you a useful basis for a proposal.
Early-adopter pricing applies when the written proposal is accepted and the agreed deposit is received by 23:59 Europe/London on 30 November 2026. Delivery dates are agreed in the proposal.
Included in every build
Responsive layouts; basic accessibility checks; unique page titles and descriptions; appropriate structured data; optimised supplied images; sitemap and indexing foundations; secure enquiry form and launch testing; two consolidated revision rounds within the agreed scope.
Website Care — £29 per month
Hosting, technical maintenance and up to 30 minutes of minor content edits per month. Unused editing time does not roll over. Cancel monthly. Before commitment, your proposal confirms the cancellation effective date, domain access, and migration arrangements, any migration work and replacement hosting. Hosting ends on the agreed date; arrange replacement hosting before then to keep the site online. New pages, redesigns and additional integrations are quoted separately.
Separately scoped
Domain registration/renewal, paid subscriptions, booking systems, payments, ongoing article writing, original photography and custom application features.
No online payment is taken here. Your written proposal confirms the agreed price, deposit, delivery and contractual terms. Accepted proposals retain their agreed price.
